Obituary: Brewer, Bobby F.
Bobby was born on April 3, 1932, in Campton, KY, the eldest of six children of Leeburn and Viola Brewer.
Bobby and Dorothy Guinn were married May 5, 1951.
He served in the United States Air Force from August 1, 1950 and retired August 31, 1971 as a Senior Master Sergeant.
His duties and responsibilities were many and varied.
He retired as a GND Radar Systems Supervisor.
Bobby’s Military Service enabled him and his wife Dorothy, daughter Brenda and son David to be stationed in Illinois, California, Azores, Morocco, France, Mississippi, Texas, and his last tour of duty at Fairchild AFB in Spokane.
Bobby also served in Japan and Turkey without his family.
While in Europe he and his family were blessed to visit Gibraltar, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Holland, France, Monaco, Italy, and Luxembourg.
After retiring from the USAF, he worked as an Applications Engineer at Keytronic Corporation from July 1973 to January 1994.
Bobby and son David with assistance from son-in-law Bill Leckie, built their family “dream lake house” in Sagle, ID.
Bobby, Dorothy and family enjoyed their home at Lake Pend Oreille, boating, playing family games, fishing and relaxing.
Dorothy passed away December 12, 1997 of cancer.
Bobby, due to the care given his wife by Hospice of Spokane, chose to “give back” and was a Hospice Volunteer from 1998 to 2008.
Family friends Ed and Jo Rublee, who also had a home at Lake Pend Oreille, enjoyed the company of Bobby and Dorothy.
After Ed passed away in 2002, Jo and Bobby’s friendship kindled.
They were married May 23, 2009.
Bobby and Jo enjoyed the lake setting and enjoyed traveling to Kentucky, Boston, Dallas area, Canada, and around Idaho and Washington State numerous times.
Bobby and Jo volunteered at SCRAPS where Bobby enjoyed walking the dogs.
They adopted their new four legged family member, Licorice.
What a great match.
Bobby’s purpose in life was to spend time with his family, enjoying family dinners, holidays, and sharing stories.
Bobby’s favorite saying was “Life is Good.”
One of Bobby’s greatest joys was helping others, whatever the need or project.
Jessica Brewer, granddaughter, loved her Ponca.
Jessi, when learning to talk, was not able to say “Grandpa,” and has called Grandpa “Ponca” and that name has never changed.
Also, through extended family, Bobby had grandchildren Shania, Mark, Teri, Sophi, Bret, Steffeni, Staci, and great-grandchildren Benjamin and Carson.
Bobby had four great-grandchildren, Brisen, Korey, Maciah, and Scarlett.
He is survived by his wife, Jo, of Spokane, his daughter Brenda S. (William) Leckie of Spokane, son David M. (Barbara) Brewer of Spokane, granddaughter Jessica A.
Brewer, brothers Raleigh Lee Brewer, Jim Brewer and Herb (Shirley) Brewer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leeburn and Viola Brewer, his brother Denzel “Billy Joe,” sister Betty Tibbs and Dorothy B.
Brewer.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Metcalf for his excellent care.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 5:00pm at Hennessey Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA.
The Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Hennessey Funeral Home, followed by interment with full Military Honors at 1:00 pm at Pines Cemetery, 1402 S. Pines, Spokane Valley.
Bobby’s nephew, the Reverend DeWayne Brewer, of Brookside Baptist Church in Nicholasville, KY, will officiate.
Devoted father, husband and Ponca, Bobby will be forever missed by all who loved him.
