WALTERS, James Leonard, Lt. Col. (USAF Ret.)

Our beloved PopPop, Lt.

Colonel James Leonard Walters was able to fly home to be with Jesus early morning July 12th.

Jim was born in Washington DC, September 16, 1931.

He was raised by his Uncle Harry and Aunt Evelyn in Silver Spring, MD.

Jim joined the Air Force and discovered a love of flying and retired in 1975.

He met the love of his life, Royce in Anchorage, AK in 1954 and they married in 1955.

Jim is survived by his wife, Royce; children, Kim (Duke), Lynn (Jim), Daniel and Drew (Tracy); nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Jim and family moved to Spokane in 1967, where he discovered his love of camping, huckleberry picking and the Oregon Coast.

He loved playing Shanghai, Cribbage and Tennis.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at Rock of Ages Christian Fellowship, 2131 W. Woodside, Spokane with Pastor Doug Malott officiating.

Private inurnment will be at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake, WA.
