Down 7-1, Hawks rally to beat Indians

BOISE – The Spokane Indians built a 7-1 lead, but two big innings late for Boise gave the Hawks a 10-7 Northwest League victory Friday night. The Indians (23-12) dropped four games in the five-game series with Boise. The loss, combined with Vancouver’s 11-3 victory over Eugene, cut Spokane’s North Division lead to one game. The Indians’ magic number to clinch the division for the first half remained at two. Andrew Pettibone (1-2) took the loss, allowing five runs – four earned – on five hits over 12/3 innings. He came on in the sixth inning in relief of starter Andrew Barnett. He allowed five runs on six hits over five-plus innings. John Fasola finished the game by not allowing any of the four batters he faced to reach base. Catcher Jose Trevino went 3 for 5 with three RBIs for Spokane. Trevino had a two-run double, a solo home run and a single. Luke Tendler had two hits and two RBIs, and Zach Cone delivered an RBI double. After playing the past eight games on the road, the Indians open a three-game series with Everett tonight at 6:30. The AquaSox, managed by former Mariner Dave Valle, have the worst record in the Northwest League.
