Obituary: Petragallo, Nona Iris

PETRAGALLO, Nona Iris On Friday, June 20th we lost a very special woman whose beautiful soul is now in the hands of God.

Nona Iris Petragallo, at the age of 94, passed away in Shoreline, Washington leaving three children (Pam Anderson and partner Tim, Mike Petragallo and wife Ioana, Penny Wood and husband Brent); two grandchildren (Spencer Anderson and wife Tora and Parker Anderson), and one great granddaughter (“Little Nona”, the daughter of Spencer and Tora Anderson).

Nona was married to Roy Petragallo, in 1942 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Roy was a prominent Spokane businessman and WSU sports figure.

He was the first National Title holder in any sport for WSU and is featured in many Halls of Fame for his boxing talents.

She lived and raised her three children in Pullman before moving to Spokane in 1960.

Spokane was home until Roy’s passing in 2002 where she then moved to Seattle to be closer to her children.

All her life she stressed the importance of family, responsibility, fairness, and the ability for her children to become whatever they wanted to be.

As our Mother she shaped us as good as she could without stealing from our identity, and no matter who her family would drag home she made sure that there was something for everyone to eat.

Nona touched the hearts of so many people in so many ways.

Space does not allow to elaborate but it is sure to be said by those who knew her…”God Bless You Nona…we will miss and remember you…and please say hi to Roy for us now that you are by his side once again.”

Funeral Mass was celebrated in Seattle.

A Committal Service will be held on Saturday, July 26th, at 2:00pm at the Holy Cross Funeral Center Chapel, 7200 N. Wall St., Spokane, WA 99208.

All that wish to attend are welcome.
