Seminars to cover Alzheimer’s care

Free programs will examine middle- and late-stage dementia, role of caregivers

The Alzheimer’s Association is offering a free seminar Tuesday in Hayden about caring for people with middle-stage dementia.

The all-day program will cover communication, personal care, behaviors, wandering and care options.

Advance registration is required. Call (208) 666-2996. Professionals can obtain a 7-hour certificate of attendance for $35.

The program is from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Family Workshop Center, 697 W. Dakota Ave. in Hayden.

The association is also having a program Aug. 13 in Post Falls focusing on caring for people with late-stage dementia, including topics such as symptoms of recognizing late-stage and changes to your role as caregiver. Other topics are communication changes, working with doctors, monitoring care and end-of-life issues. Reservations aren’t required for the free program that runs from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at The Inn at Guardian Angel Homes, 1136 E. Mullan Ave. in Post Falls.
