Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma cancels two Ted Nugent concerts

The Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma has canceled two Ted Nugent concerts. According to Seattle’s King5 News, Puyallup Tribal Council Vice President Lawrence W. LaPointe said the tribe recognizes Nugent’s First Amendment right to free speech, but “racism is intolerable and not acceptable here.” Nugent was scheduled to perform on Aug. 2 and 3. The cancellation comes days after the Coeur d’Alene Tribe cancelled Nugent’s scheduled concert at its casino in Worley, Idaho, because of his “racist and hate-filled remarks.” LaPointe told the Seattle news station that the Puyallup Tribe has been getting “lots of complaints from the community and other organizations” about Nugent’s concerts. Nugent has used racially charged language in referring to blacks and President Obama, as well as mocking those who object to racist sports-team names.
