2 Fifth Annual Selkirk International Film Festival 7 p.m. Thursday, Cutter Theatre, 302 Park St., Metaline Falls, Washington. Short films from the U.S. and Canada with connections to the local or regional area. The event shows 10 films, each four to 20 minutes in length, and includes comedy, drama, documentary and experimental films. Filmmakers will be on hand to answer questions. 3 Spokane Slam Showcase Fundraiser 7 p.m. today, Auntie’s Bookstore, main floor 402 W. Main Ave. An evening of Spokane’s best slam poets featuring Chris Cook, Emily Gwinn, Kurt Olson and Katie Schmarr. Snacks and beverages will be sold as well as a hat passed, and a percentage of the evening’s sales will be donated to help these great poets on their way to the National Poetry Slam in Oakland, California. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Grant Park, 1015 S. Arthur St. 15th annual event with vendors, food, dunk tank, arts and crafts, and free kids activities.
