An Arizona man was taken to Kootenai Medical Center late Thursday after the Chevy sedan he was driving ended up in Lake Coeur d’Alene, the Idaho State Police said. Douglas Williams, 26, of Scottsdale, Arizona, swam to safety near the intersection of State Highway 97 and Gotham Bay Road just after 11 p.m., according to a news release. Williams was driving south on the highway when his vehicle left the roadway and entered the water, the ISP said. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
