Shooting unjustified

I’ve been a pet owner for 50 years. Dogs love to go for rides in the car. It’s one of the few highlights in their lives.

Yes, during warm weather, the trips need to be thought out or canceled, but one can usually find shade for a few hours so the dogs won’t overheat. They make great car alarms. I’ve never heard of a dog jumping out of their owner’s car and attacking anyone. They are concerned with people getting into the vehicle.

The fact that the officer shot through the glass to kill the dog tells the story; the story of a needless slaughter of a beloved pet. And if the man loved his dog like I love mine, it’s the loss of a treasured companion. How do you justify deadly force? You can’t.

My condolences to the pet owner.
