Support for officer

In response to the numerous letters blaming the officer who shot the vehicle-bound dog in Coeur d’Alene:

I am writing on behalf of those of us who are sick and tired of having the living daylights scared out of us by untrained, vicious dogs left in vehicles. It’s happened to me more times than I can count.

I put my support squarely behind the officer’s shooting of the dog. Why? He was investigating a suspicious vehicle, so, no doubt, he was ready for anything. A black beast lunged at the window and barked its head off. He followed his training and shot. And he’s vilified for it by the pet-loving community.

Yet, a man who shot someone fleeing him in a vehicle got a total pass by the courts and most of the public. So dogs are more important than humans now?

One day, someone is going to be scared by one of these canines into a stroke, a heart attack or oncoming traffic. Will it still be the fault of the human then? What will it take to get dog owners to quit hauling dogs who can’t remain quiet in vehicles?
