Art on the Green Festival – Friday-Aug. 3. The 46th annual celebration transforming the NIC campus into an outdoor art gallery and marketplace with hundreds of artists. There will be food, live music, art activities for children and more. Hours are Friday, noon-7:30 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Parking and shuttle bus service to the west side of the NIC campus from downtown is available during the festival. Teacher Craft Retreat on the Mountain This four-day, three-night craft retreat is all about pampering and relaxing. Sandbox Sewing - If you would like to work on your projects with other friendly stitchers, this is the place to be. August will be open sewing for anyone who wants to start or finish their projects. Tree School - The Spokane Conservation District and the Spokane County WSU Extension are planning an educational event for foresters, arborists, small forest owners and backyard gardeners who want to expand their skills and knowledge. Cow Herd Management and Cheese Making - The 2014 Farm Walk Educational Series from the Tilth Producers of Washington presents a tour of a modern dairy farm. Bark in the Park - The Spokane Indians invite you and your dog to watch as they take on the Vancouver Canadians. Bogs for Dogs - The Northwest Mud Racers Association presents the seventh annual event to raise funds for animals in need. The spectator gate opens at 1 p.m. and racing starts at 2 p.m. There is a $45 entry fee for those wishing to race a vehicle with safety inspection and registration from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. A portion of all entrance and spectator fees will be donated to the Spokane Humane Society. North Idaho Fair and Rodeo - Aug. 20-24. This year’s theme is “Summer’s Best Tradition.” The fair offers live music, carnival rides and games, food vendors, arts and crafts, livestock, contests and community exhibits.
