Man arrested in overnight shots-fired burglary

A 23-year-old man was arrested after an alleged burglary during which shots were fired in a rural area north of Spokane Valley on Wednesday night. Ethan Burrow was booked into Spokane County Jail just after 2 a.m. facing charges of assault, armed burglary, firearm theft and vehicle theft, according to jail records. Burrow was arrested after deputies were called to a residence near the intersection of North Forker and East Moffat roads after 8 p.m. Wednesday, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Mark Gregory said. Two homeowners arrived to find their house had been broken into. A firearm was taken in the theft, and when the alleged burglar ran he fired shots, Gregory said. It’s unclear at this time whether he was firing at the homeowners or into the air, Gregory said. Burrow was quickly apprehended and told deputies there was a second suspect. They began combing the largely rural area looking for the suspect, using multiple police dogs and a helicopter, Gregory said. As the investigation continued, it became clear Burrow was the only suspect and the search was called off during the overnight hours. Burrow has one Washington conviction for identity theft from April 2013, according to court records. He also has an arrest and conviction history in Kootenai County. He will appear in court on the most recent charges as early as this afternoon.
