Green Bluff being ruined

Thank you very much, Spokane County commissioners, for hammering another nail into Green Bluff’s coffin. By putting your blessing on the event centers in small-tract agricultural zones, you have effectively numbered the days of the real farmers in favor of the rich, smooth-talking businesspeople who are pushing us out.

The people who own the event centers are not poor farmers trying to eke a living out of the land, and the event centers have nothing to do with promoting small farms. The people who own them are not farmers and they are not good neighbors.

If you are a person who enjoys coming to the Bluff for fresh Green Bluff-grown fruit, vegetables or Christmas trees, enjoy it while you can. It can’t last. The next thing the event center owners are going to do is shut down farm operations, such as plowing, mowing, spraying, brush-burning, etc., because they will disturb the partygoers.

It would be great if Green Bluff could once again be a farm community and not a drunken-party community. I can only dream. Money has too much power.
