Obituary: Sivanish, Helen E.

Age 95

SIVANISH, Helen E. (Age 95) Passed away peacefully on May 29, 2014 in Spokane, WA.

Helen was born in Warren Minnesota on May 29, 1919 to Challie and Anna (Lovas) Miller.

Helen left the family farm in Northern Minnesota in 1932 and came out West with an older sister Julia.

She settled in Spokane where she met her husband, Herb A. Sivanish, from Shakopee, Minnesota.

Helen and Herb got married on May 7, 1943 in El Paso, Texas.

The newlyweds started a family resulting in four sons: Duane, James, Paul and Norman.

Helen worked as a waitress at the old J.J. Newberry’s in downtown Spokane.

Helen was an active member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church while pursuing her hobbies: going for walks around the neighborhood, sewing, knitting, praying the rosary, and reading the Bible.

Helen is preceded in death by husband Herb and son Duane.

Surviving family members include sister Marge Mattson (Seattle, WA.

), sons James (Spokane), Paul (Richland, WA.)

Norman (Spokane), 12 loving grandchildren, and 18 beautiful great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the Sivanish family request that contributions be made in honor of Helen to your favorite local charity.

Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma, we miss you.

Services will be on Wednesday June 4th, 2014, at 10:00am at Assumption Parish, 3624 W. Indian Trail Road, Spokane, WA.
