Vehicular assault charges pending in accident early Wednesday

From staff reports
Vehicular assault charges are pending against a Colbert man after an early morning accident with a logging truck sent two to the hospital. The Washington State Patrol said Artur A. Gurdyumov, 21, was likely under the influence of drugs or alcohol when he pulled out in front of a logging truck on state Highway 290 near the state line early this morning. Gurdyumov was headed south on Idaho Road in a 2005 Subaru Outback shortly after 3 a.m. when he attempted to turn westbound on Highway 290. A 2003 Kenworth driven by Noel R. Kimball, 45, of Hayden, was headed west. The vehicles collided in the intersection, a WSP news release said. Both drivers were taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. Gurdyumov was wearing a seat belt; Kimball was not, the news release said. The accident blocked the roadway in both directions for several hours. The logging truck rolled as a result of the crash.
