Obituary: Setterlund, John C.

SETTERLUND, John C. 2/21/1956 - 1/30/2014 Passed away on January 30, 2014 while living in Shenzhen, China.

He had recently retired from Chugach Electric Co. in Anchorage, AK and moved to China to be with his wife, Lifang Zhang.

John was born on February 21, 1956 to Conrad and Joan Setterlund in Spokane, WA.

John grew up in Spokane and graduated from West Valley H.S.

After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S.M.C.

where he attained the rank of Corporal before leaving the service.

After leaving the service, he worked various jobs and eventually went to work at the Jim Bridger Power Plant in Rock Springs, WY.

After being there a number of years he left and worked briefly for a power company in Chehalis, WA.

He later moved to Anchorage, AK and went to work for Chugach Electric.

Here, he worked his way up to control room operator before retiring.

Through the course of his life, John was a gifted artist who produced many works of art.

And in recent years, had taken up the hobby of building R/C model airplanes with great detail and craftsmanship.

Throughout his life, John made many friends and will be missed by many.

He was a good man, friend, and brother.

He was always willing to help a friend in need.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Setterlund.

His father, Conrad E. Setterlund passed away on April 15, 2014.

John is survived by his wife, Lifang Zhang (Lily); daughter, Francis.

By sisters: Debbie Flaim, Becky Rodenbough, Cherie Setterlund, and brother, Robert B. Setterlund.

Also nephews: Joey, Mathew, Wyatt, and niece Holly.

There will be a graveside service held on June 9th, 2014 at 2:00 PM, at St. Joseph Cemetery.
