Obituary: Uphus, Rosemary Margaret (Whorle)
Age 84
Rosemary was born at Sacred Heart Hospital on January 26, 1930, to Edgar and Mary Wohrle of Spokane, WA.
Her schooling took her through St. Augustine’s Catholic School and Holy Names Academy.
She met her husband (Ralph A. Uphus) while attending Seattle University.
They were married June 9, 1951 at St. Augustine’s Church and they celebrated 40 years together until his death in 1991.
She was a loving mother to their five children in the Spokane Valley and provided everything they needed for a happy and healthy childhood.
No mother could love her children more than our mother loved us.
She was such a great homemaker and provided the kind of home that not only her children wanted to come home to but our house was the hub for the rest of the neighborhood children as well.
The family moved to the valley and became members of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in 1958.
Mom continued to worship at St. Mary’s Church until she moved to Emilie Court Assisted Living Facility in 2010.
Preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ralph.
She is survived by her brother Ralph Wohrle (Maggie - Deceased), children Michael (Linda), Mark (Jeanne), Kevin (Diana), David (Alethea), and daughter, Mary Naccarato; thirteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren with a third due in September; sisters-in-Law Shirley McHugh (Dave), Sr. Patricia Uphus, Sr. Marilyn Peterson (who was like a sister-in-Law), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Rosemary loved to laugh with her friends and family and her heart was always reaching out to others.
She easily fostered friendships and always had time for a cup of coffee with a neighbor or close friend.
Our mother was a shopper and Albertson’s was her oasis.
She enjoyed going with her family to their lake cabin at Hayden Lake and on trips to the Seattle / Tacoma area to see relatives.
Our mother had a special bond with many people.
She loved the wonderful lifelong friends she made at Holy Names Academy.
During the 52 years she lived in her South Mamer Rd.
neighborhood, she established an exceptional bond with all of her neighbors, especially the children.
Through the years, there were many families at St. Mary’s Catholic Church that were significant to Rosemary and her family.
She had a close relationship with her Albertson’s friends.
When Rosemary moved to Emilie Court and St. Joseph’s Care Center, she found a group of people who were loving and caring and made her time there pleasant and rewarding.
The family would like to thank the very extraordinary group of people at Saint Joseph’s Care Center for the love they showed and the quality care she received.
There will be a Rosary held at Hennessey Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines, on Friday, June 6th at 7pm.
Rosemary’s funeral will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 304 S. Adams Road, at 2pm on Saturday, June 7th.
