Police say LC student threatened classmates

Spokane Public School officials say Lewis and Clark High School will operate on a normal schedule today, a day after one of its students was alleged to have threatened students and faculty. An LC student was arrested Thursday afternoon after police learned that he may have planned to harm or kill students, faculty and himself, Spokane Police reported. The student was booked in Spokane County Juvenile Detention on a charge of felony harassment – threat to kill. Police received a report from a “concerned citizen” about the threats, said police spokeswoman Monique Cotton in a news release. Police said they are working with mental health officials related to the case. District spokesman Kevin Morrison said an additional school resource officer will be at LC today and Spokane Police are taking the lead in the case. “They feel comfortable and confident that this was a single individual and that it is under control,” Morrison said. Morrison said the student was not arrested at the school.
