The Dirt

Pyrotek moves to new home

Pyrotek Inc. has completed its renovations and moved into the former Eastern Washington University building in downtown Spokane, at 705 W. First Ave.

The company paid the state $1.2 million for the building, now called the Pyrotek Corporate Center. It moved out of its previous offices on East Montgomery Avenue in Spokane Valley.

Founded in 1956, the company makes and sells high-temperature materials across the world, employing 1,600 people. Roughly 65 will work at the downtown Spokane office.

The building has 55,000 square feet of office space, with room for growth, said company General Manager Bruce Gallaher.

Dickau plans new barber shop

Former Gonzaga University basketball player Dan Dickau will open The Barbers on Grand, his second area barber shop.

It’s going into 1,200 square feet in the former Walgreen’s drive-through pharmacy at 1304 S. Grand Blvd.

He said he hopes to open on June 19.

Dickau, a TV and radio broadcaster during basketball season, opened his first barber shop near the North Division Y in 2013. It’s at 9331 N. Newport Highway.

During its first month in business, the new site will offer $5 haircuts, Dickau said.

Investors buy former clinic

An investment firm has paid $199,000 for the former Spokane Valley Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho, at 10525 E. Trent Ave.

The new owners are Trent & University LLC. The building has roughly 1,800 square feet of office space. Planned Parenthood vacated the building more than a year ago, moving to larger space at 12104 E. Main Ave., in Spokane Valley.

Chris Bell of NAI Black and Miranda Ellingwood of Century 21 brokered the sale.
