Weekend stabbing victim identified

Sean Oie, 49, was stabbed in chest

From staff reports
Authorities have identified the man who died of a stab wound to the chest at the STA bus plaza downtown on Saturday as 49-year-old Sean K. Oie. Donald Phillips, 40, was apprehended by police after a manhunt in the Peaceful Valley neighborhood Saturday evening. Investigators say Phillips was caught on camera stabbing Oie once, fatally, in the chest before fleeing around 3:30 p.m. The Spokane County medical examiner released Oie’s identity in a news release Monday morning. He died of a single stab wound to the chest, according to the autopsy. Peaceful Valley residents, including Spokane City Councilman Jon Snyder, helped police locate Phillips at a residence and take him into custody. He faces a charge of first-degree murder and is expected in court this afternoon.
