Washington State University closer Ian Hamilton was named a 2014 Freshman All-American by the National College Baseball Writers’ Association on Monday.

The NCBWA placed Hamilton on its second team. Last week, he was named to the Louisville Slugger Collegiate Baseball All-America team.

Hamilton saved a school-record 15 games to lead the Pac-12 and tie for the national lead among freshmen.

WSU sophomore rower Nicole Hare was named to the 2014 Pocock All-America Second Team, the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association announced.

Hare helped the Cougars’ varsity eight crew to a 15th-place finish at last week’s NCAA Championships and a 14th-place finish as a team. She is the ninth Cougar to be named to the second team.
