Obituary: Miles, Katherine P.
Age 90
Katherine (Katie) was born on September 11th, 1923 at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane.
Her husbands, Francis Henry Mallon and Leo F. Miles, preceded her in death.
She is survived by children Gary Mallon (Camille) and Elizabeth Mallon-Bodine, and grandchildren Sean Patrick Mallon (Kaitlin), Colleen Mallon Fox (Richard), and Chloe Shea Bodine.
In addition, she is survived by step-daughters and step-granddaughter Colleen Mallon, Maureen Mohatt, and Annie Robinson (Brad, Harrison, and Josie Janine).
Katherine graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and was an alumnus of Washington State University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
In mid-life she returned to school and earned an associate degree in Interior Design.
She was a past president of the YWCA.
She had an enjoyment and appreciation of music, art, conversation and the Zags.
She was outspoken in her opinions and possessed a great since of humor.
She continued to read several books a week until her passing.
She fondly remembered her years and times at Hayden Lake.
Katie had a lifelong passion for the care and well-being of domestic and wild animals.
No dog or cat was treated finer or loved more.
She was extremely proud of all her grandchildren, but the family would like to acknowledge the special connection she had with her granddaughter Chloe.
Their devotion and commitment to each other enriched both of their lives.
For their years of friendship, the family would like to thank all of the ladies of ‘wine club’, Pauline Adamson, and Jean and Dick Ahrens - loyal friends for 75 years.
Thank you to her medical professionals and caregivers.
Family members attended a private memorial service for Katie shortly after her passing.
