Knotts’ offer challenges Symphony donors to pony up before June 30

Spokane Symphony supporters Sherry and Frank Knott are opening up their wallet to help the symphony, and are encouraging others to do the same.

The Knotts have issued a matching challenge: They will match donations made between now and June 30 – up to $50,000.

To make a donation or for more information, visit www.spokane symphony.org.

Art at the festival

The LaCrosse Farmers Festival is getting a little arty.

For the first time, the festival is holding an invitational art exhibit. “Start Your Engine. Start Your Imagination. Start Your ImaginEngine.” will be on display from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the LaCrosse Library.

The exhibit will feature art in a variety of media, including needlepoint, metals, paint, paper and wood. Among the artists participating are Rob Smith, Emily Adams, Sara C. Swett, Larry Pfaff, Sid Barth, Katie Martin and DS Watkins.

Visitors will be asked to vote for their favorite work for the 2014 Start Your ImaginEngine Viewers’ Choice Award.

The festival, always held the third Saturday in June, will feature a fun run, a parade, picnic, games and entertainment. LaCrosse is 90 miles south of Spokane and 46 miles west of Pullman. For information on the exhibit, call Peggy Bryan at the Whitman County Library, (509) 394-4366. For details about the festival, call Lois Startin at (509) 549-3543.
