Obituary: Williams, Leilah “Esther”

Age 83

WILLIAMS, Leilah “Esther” (Age 83) Leilah “Esther” Williams, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Ventura, CA on Sunday, May 18, 2014, following a brief battle with lymphoma.

Esther was born September 6, 1930, on the family farm, Logan Center, in Kempton, North Dakota.

She married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Williams on December 24, 1948.

Esther has been a resident of Ventura for the past four years having moved here from Spokane, Washington.

She retired from working with the Arizona State Refugee Program.

Esther enjoyed her years in Ventura, spending time volunteering with the Assistance League and helping at the Bargain Box.

She enjoyed reading her bible and attended Coastline Bible Fellowship in Ventura.

In her free time, Esther constructed and decorated doll houses and spent time with her beloved dog, Rags.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Richard.

Esther is survived by her children, Jennifer Grand of Phoenix, AZ, Richard Guy Williams of Ventura, CA and Linda Kay Gwin of Red Desert, Wyoming; grandchildren, Nathan Williams, Dana Williams, Joey Correnti, Cassy Munson, Jaqueline Correnti, Christopher Correnti, Esther McLean, Jonathan Grand, Crystal Grand, Auburn Vogt; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Mac Virden of North Dakota; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, on Thursday, June 19, 2014, from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Funeral services will also be held at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home on Friday June 20, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. with a one hour visitation period beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at the Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home.
