Two adults, children injured in two-vehicle accident north of Spirit Lake

UPDATED: Sun., June 15, 2014, 10:57 p.m.

Two adults and two small children were transported to Kootenai Health Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene following a Sunday afternoon vehicle collision on Idaho Highway 41 north of Spirit Lake.

Abilene Anderson 32, of Coeur d’Alene, was driving a Toyota Rav RAV4 heading north when she swerved over the center line, striking a Jeep Cherokee driven by Gregory Watson, 28, of Sagle.

Both vehicles each had a 3-year-old child in car seats, the Idaho State Police said in a release.

Anderson was later taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane where she underwent surgery Sunday evening. Her status was not updated late Sunday.

Watson was listed in critical condition, according to a Kootenai Health spokesman. The two young children were treated and released, the spokesman said.

Anderson was wearing a seat belt, while Watson was not, the ISP report said.

The accident closed the highway for more than two hours Sunday. It was reopened by 4 p.m
