War wasn’t worth it

Our chickens have once again come home to roost; this time in Iraq and Syria. Our expenditure of $1 trillion and the killing of hundreds of thousands in order to eliminate nonexistent “weapons of mass destruction” have brought us a more dangerous world than ever existed before 9/11, which was also a product of our foreign policy.

The beneficiaries? Well-connected arms and oil companies for sure. The rest of us – especially our veterans – meekly pay and pay. But as long as there are well-connected beneficiaries, our government will not hesitate to initiate more brilliant imperial adventures such as the recent overthrow of the duly elected government of the Ukraine.
