NBA, NHL ratings up

Nearly 18 million viewers tuned in to watch the San Antonio Spurs clinch the NBA championship in Game 5 on Sunday night. That’s a 10 percent increase from Game 5 between the same teams last year. The 10.3 national rating on ABC was up from 9.5 last year. In the Stanley Cup playoffs, NBC’s combined coverage averaged 1.44 million viewers. The final series between Los Angeles and the New York Rangers was the second-most watched NHL postseason series since NBC and NBCSN began exclusive coverage in 2006. It was just the fifth final in 20 years to average more than 5.0 million viewers. Associated Press
