Students from area earn honors for spring

George Fox University, in Newberg, Oregon, has named the following area residents to the 2014 spring dean’s list for achieving a grade-point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale during the semester:

Colbert: Brooke Batterton.

Deer Park: Ivy Deniston.

Newman Lake: Allison Momb.

Spokane: Esther Hunt, Katrina Solum, Alyssa Poffenroth, Samuel Read.

• Baylor University in Waco, Texas, has named the following Spokane residents to the 2014 spring semester dean’s list: Kara Brockett, Leslie Calhoun, Sophia Calhoun, Stephanie Endicott, Nicholas Foreman, Brian Hafferkamp, Samantha Hill, Matthew Linnell and Gabriel Hartwell Lipton. Students must earn a GPA of 3.7 to be named to the list.

• Mackenzie Driscoll and Hannah Richter, of Spokane, and Maya Furukawa, of Liberty Lake, have been named to dean’s list at Beloit College, in Beloit, Wisconsin, for the 2014 spring semester. Students must earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher for the semester to be eligible for the dean’s list.

• Montana State University – Billings has named Janae Taylor, of Ione; Baily Osterberg, of Republic; and Robyn Fjelseth, of Spokane, to the 2014 spring dean’s list. Students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or more to be included on the list.

• Keelan Southerland, of Liberty Lake, has been named to the spring 2014 semester president’s list at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont, for achieving a GPA of 4.0.

• Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, has named Jonathan Burkholder, of Warden, to the dean’s list for the spring 2014 semester. Burkholder maintained a GPA above 3.75 to be named to the list. He is the son of Glenn and Mary Burkholder.

• Spokane resident Michael Aunan has been named to the spring 2014 semester dean’s list at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico. Students must earn a GPA between 3.25 and 4.0 to qualify for the dean’s list.

• Spokane Valley resident Conner Haidle has been named to the spring 2014 dean’s list at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Students must complete the semester with a GPA of at least 3.5.

• Morgan Hepler, of Spokane Valley, earned a GPA of at least 3.5 and was named to the 2014 spring dean’s list at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri.

• Pullman resident Katherine Hindman has been named to the spring 2014 semester dean’s list at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.75 or higher to qualify for the dean’s list. Hindman is a graduate of Pullman High School and the daughter of Douglas and Elizabeth Hindman.

• Hannah Smith, of Newman Lake, has earned high honors from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point for earning a GPA between 3.75 and 3.89 for the spring 2014 semester.

• Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois, has named Rachel Verhage, of Moses Lake, to the dean’s list for the spring 2014 semester. Students must earn a GPA of at least 3.5 to be named to the list.

• Coeur d’Alene resident Brenna Condon has been named to the 2014 spring semester dean’s list at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine, for earning a GPA of 3.3 or better for the semester.

• Caroline Emberton, of Colbert, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2014 semester at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
