In brief: Second arrest made in Deer Park killing

A second man has been arrested in the January killing of Harry “Ed” Giesbrecht in his Deer Park apartment.

Anthony J. Tudor II, 23, was arrested Monday on a charge of first-degree murder.

Investigators previously arrested another man, Richard F. Klepacki, 62, only hours after the killing. Klepacki is free on $75,000 bond. His trial is scheduled for October.

According to court documents, investigators believe Tudor shot Giesbrecht in the head. A witness told police that Giesbrecht was watching television when the two men began pounding on his door.

EWU sophomore dies, 2 hurt in Cheney crash

An Eastern Washington University student died and two men are recovering from injuries after a crash early Tuesday morning in Cheney.

A news release from EWU identified the student who died as Adam O. Morales, a 21-year-old sophomore from Grandview, Washington.

Cheney Police Commander Rick Campbell said the vehicle was traveling on K Street around 1:45 a.m. when it approached West Sixth Street. It left the roadway, struck a pine tree and rolled over into Sutton Park.

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Craig Chamberlin said the passengers were coming from a bar, and police believe “speed and impairment were factors” in the crash.

The other two men in the car were friends of Morales’ but not EWU students, the release said.

Counseling services are available for students by calling (509) 359-2366 or by visiting the Counseling and Psychological Services Office in 225 Martin Hall.
