County schools receive performance awards

The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction has recognized several schools in Spokane County with Washington Achievement Awards.

Presented at NEWESD 101, schools were acknowledged as being top performers in six categories: Overall Excellence, High Progress, Reading Growth, Math Growth, Extended Graduation Rate (awarded to high schools and comprehensive schools) and English Language Acquisition.

Spokane County winners are:

• Central Valley School District:

Chester Elementary, Overall Excellence

Summit School, High Progress

• Freeman School District:

Freeman High School, Overall Excellence, High Progress, Reading Growth, Math Growth

• Mead School District:

Shiloh Hills Elementary, High Progress

• Medical Lake School District:

Hallett Elementary, High Progress

Medical Lake High School, Five-Year Graduation Rate

• Spokane Public Schools:

Adams Elementary, High Progress and Reading Growth

Glover Middle School, High Progress

Grant Elementary, English Language Acquisition

Libby Center, Overall Excellence

Madison Elementary, High Progress

Regal Elementary, English Language Acquisition

Sacajawea Middle School, Math Growth, English Language Acquisition

Wilson Elementary, Overall Excellence, Reading Growth
