Support I-1329

The deadline for submitting petitions for Initiative 1329 signatures is July 3. The only way “we the people” are going to elect legislators is to limit and make transparent the huge amounts of money being paid into our elections.

First, the U.S. Supreme Court made corporations “people” with constitutional rights, like citizens. Then, a month or two ago, they took off the cap that had limited the amount of money wealthy individuals are able contribute to candidates. As of now, individuals can give them as much as $5 million.

As long as big money is influencing political candidates and laws, legislators will continue to accommodate those with the most money, the majority of the ads on TV will be for candidates supported by the wealthiest contributors, and laws legislators put through will reflect the will of big money.

Is this how we want our legislators elected, and how we want our laws to be made – to mainly benefit those that contribute large sums to elections?

Please sign I-1329 to encourage clean elections, so we are choosing our elected officials and they are serving us.
