Glen Campbell’s Alzheimer’s disease has progressed to the point where he needs full-time professional care, his wife said last week, explaining her decision to place the singer in a long-term care facility and responding publicly to criticism from Campbell’s eldest daughter.

In an email to The Associated Press, Kim Campbell wrote that doctors persuaded her earlier this spring to discontinue care at the family’s home.

“It is crushingly sad to see him afflicted with Alzheimer’s but indulging those feelings does not help him,” Campbell wrote, adding, “I am his wife and no one wants him home more than me but I must do what is in his best interest.”

Debby Campbell told Country Weekly magazine recently that she objected to the move and that she and Campbell’s eldest children heard about it through news reports.

Campbell, 78, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2011.

Homeless man stalks Selena Gomez

A homeless man has been ordered to undergo psychological treatment after pleading no contest to stalking Selena Gomez.

Los Angeles County prosecutors say Che Thomas Cruz entered the plea Friday and was told to spend six months in a residential treatment facility followed by a year of psychological treatment. He’ll also have to stay 200 yards away from the singer-actress and her home for 10 years.

Authorities say Cruz went to Gomez’s home twice and was arrested in March for breaking into her guesthouse in suburban Calabasas.

He pleaded no contest in April to a misdemeanor trespassing charge. Cruz spent two days in jail but hours after his release he jumped a fence at Gomez’s home and was arrested again.

McCreery pays manager after lawsuit

Country singer Scotty McCreery is happy to pay a former manager about $239,000 as a lawsuit ends, according to his spokeswoman.

McCreery owes the money to music-industry veteran Todd Cassetty following a jury verdict on Wednesday, The Tennessean reported on Thursday. Cassetty sued last year, contending that he was owed 15 percent of McCreery’s gross revenue.

“I am very pleased with the management fee ruling of only $239,000, which was less than half of the $570,000 Mr. Cassetty requested,” McCreery said in a written statement.

“It was always my intention to pay Mr. Cassetty and indeed had offered to pay him more than once. His request, however, for over half a million dollars was too much for a few months of work.”
