Obituary: Hubbell, Gene C.

Age 70

HUBBELL, Gene C. May 15, 1944 - June 20, 2014 Gene passed away on June 20th after long medical battles.

He died with his loving family by his side.

Gene graduated from North Central High School in Spokane and then attended Eastern Washington College of Education.

Later he went to work for Cowles Publishing where he became a District Manager and after 37 years he retired.

Gene loved to travel which included trips to Hawaii, Palm Springs and Mexico.

He eventually settled on Palm Springs where he wintered for the past 4 years.

He also felt great peace at his place on the Pend ‘Oreille River and always looked forward to the annual family picnic.

His wish on how to be remembered is that he was very private, very independent, loved a good time with relatives and friends, but very much valued “alone” time.

He loved his relatives and friends more than anything and never wished to be a burden or thorn to anyone.

He wished peace and harmony to everyone.

“Life should not be a journey to the pearly gates with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well-preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming Woo-Hoo what a ride!

Gene was preceded in death by his mother Pearl and father Cliff whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by brothers Jerry (Marilyn), Denny (Peggy) and sister Kathy St. Andrew (Rich) plus numerous nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be open to the public June 26th between 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. at Ball & Dodd, 5100 W. Wellesley, Spokane.

Services to remember Gene will be held at the same location on July 1st at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
