The Central Valley School Board unanimously approved a resolution Monday to purchase the old Yoke’s, 16 N. Progress Road, for $2.375 million.
The district will finance the purchase cost, asbestos abatement and design with short-term financing through Spokane County. The total amount is for $3.3 million.
The building will house Barker High School and the Early Learning Center.
The board also approved the district’s recommendation of Kamiel Youseph as principal of Barker High School.
Youseph earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Eastern Washington University in 2007 and a bachelor’s in education and English from EWU in 1999.
He most recently taught English at West Valley High School.
Nicole Karaus has been selected as the new assistant principal at Greenacres Elementary School.
The board also approved Superintendent Ben Small’s contract for July 1 through June 30, 2017.
Small will have an annual salary of $153,084, plus $750 a month for operation of his personal automobile for work-related travel within Spokane County and $125 a month for cellphone and related expenses.
