Take the streets by Storm

When the Seattle Storm saw the WNBA schedule was sending them to Spokane for the league’s first regular-season out-of-market experience, they had to figure they’d be the only game in town.

They were wrong.

The public address announcer started barking over the speakers outside their downtown hotel rooms about 7 a.m., and eventually they took the elevator down to check out the coed games on their doorstep.

“There were some girls out there holding their own with the boys,” said Sheri Sam. “And it’s so big! You can tell this community cares about the game.”
