Overnight fire closes Spokane Valley grocery

From staff reports
A fire that broke out on the roof of a Spokane Valley grocery store early Friday has shuttered the business, according to a store employee. Crews from the Spokane and Spokane Valley fire departments and the county responded to Barney’s Harvest Foods at 11205 East Dishman-Mica Road just after 2 a.m., according to a news release. An alarm went off as flames spread on the roof of the business. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly, and no injuries were reported. The building was empty when the fire began, firefighters said. An employee confirmed the grocery will be closed Friday. There are no immediate plans for when the business might reopen, she said. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire, according to the news release.
