Apathy endangers U.S.

We live in a beautiful country. It is rich in natural resources and is the leader in many major economic, social, technological and military areas worldwide. Unfortunately, America is heading for trouble.

The reason I say this is because I see that people have stopped caring about America. They say they love it, but they do not love it enough to see it changed for the better. When one loves something, but not enough to see it succeed and prosper, they do not love it; they are merely watching it wither and die.

We have stopped caring about education, and, as a result, we are not seeing the growth we should. We have stopped caring about the foundation this country was built upon. Because America is so great and unique, it will not be conquered by any foreign nation. It will implode, crumbling on itself. The apathy toward life that our society is demonstrating will destroy it.

When we stop caring about morality, justice, temperance and knowledge, we will be on the fast track to destruction. Democracy will die by our own hand. It is up to us to save our country from its own death.

Brandon Johnson
