Broussard takes spot at SMU

NFL: Former Washington State running back Steve Broussard has been hired to coach running backs at Southern Methodist University.

Broussard was a running back for the Atlanta Falcons when SMU coach June Jones was on the staff there in the 1990s. He played nine seasons in the NFL.

The former All-Pac-10 running back spent the past two seasons with UCLA after previous stints as an assistant at Arizona State, Portland State and his alma mater.

While at UCLA, Broussard’s recruiting responsibilities included Texas. He was also the Sun Devils’ recruiting coordinator.

Tweets score NFL cheerleader

NFL: It took 10,000 retweets but a Houston-area teenager got his dream date for the high school prom: A Houston Texans cheerleader.

Michael Ramirez, 17, a Crosby High School senior, asked cheerleader Caitlyn on Twitter if she would be his prom date if he could get 10,000 retweets. She responded, “Of course I will,” and within 24 hours, it was done.

Ramirez’s proposal – “10,000 Retweets and I’ll be taking a texans cheerleader to prom” – hit 10,000 on Friday. Caitlyn says she is looking forward to the prom; the team does not release full names of its cheerleaders.
