Four corners: Gonzaga Bulldogs

COMING UP: Saturday vs. Pacific or Santa Clara, 6 p.m. (ESPN2)

OUTLOOK: The Bulldogs have played for the WCC tournament title 16 straight years, winning 11 championships. Gonzaga has enjoyed byes into the semifinals since 2003. That’s no longer the case as Gonzaga enters in the quarterfinal round under the new 10-team format. The Zags have won 21 of their last 22 tourney openers, interrupted only by a 64-59 setback to San Diego in 1997. No. 8-seeded Pacific (15-14, 6-12) and No. 9 Santa Clara (13-18, 6-12) split during the regular season. Pacific edged Portland in the regular-season finale to snap a four-game losing streak. The Broncos closed with a road win over Pepperdine on Saturday.
