Morton-White Pass 73, Lind-Ritz./Sprague 56

Six Timberwolves scored in double figures and Morton White Pass defeated the Lind-Ritzville /Sprague Broncos in a State 2B opener at the Arena.

The Broncos, led by Dylan Hartz and his game-high 27 points, found themselves down by 20 points early in the third quarter before fighting back and cutting the lead to just six with under 5 minutes left in the game. But the Timberwolves quickly responded and put the game away comfortably.

Kaleb Poquette, Zach Walton and Kalen Dunlap tied for team-high honors with 11 points apiece.

Rylon Kolb recorded 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven rebounds for the Timberwolves in the win.

Bear Creek 57, Northwest Christian 53

Jesse Leuenberger hit two free throws with 2.5 seconds left for his only points of the game, giving the Bear Creek Grizzlies a decisive four-point lead as they beat the Crusaders.

Luke Blankenbeckler scored a game-high 16 points, including three 3-pointers, for the Grizzlies, who nursed a narrow lead for the entire second half.

Jonatan Morris, Jeremiah Sander and Curtis Hartis scored 12 apiece for the losing Crusaders, with Sander also recording eight rebounds.

The Grizzlies shot 50 percent from the field in the win.

Bear Creek will face Morton- White Pass tonight at 7:15.

The Lancers overmatched the Loggers in the second half to take an opening-round victory.

After finishing the first quarter tied at 16, the Loggers were held to just 18 points for the rest of the game.

Ryan Thayer scored a game-high 22 points, and Match Burnham recorded 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in the win.

Jonathan Smalley went 6 of 11 from the field for a team-high 17 points.

The Lancers will play St. George’s tonight at 9.

Dexter Sienko led all scorers with 22 points to go along with 14 rebounds as the Dragons burned the Vikings.

Will Tender scored 21 points for the Dragons, and guard Erik Muelheims added 19. Kyler Hazen scored a team-high 15 points for the Vikings.

With Sienko and Tender down low, the Dragons out-rebounded the Vikings 40-26.
