Cody LaMunyan had 16 points and seven rebounds, Riley Bott added 15 points and the Pirates took control in the second quarter Thursday to ease past the Redskins in the first round of the State 1B tournament at the Arena.
Pomeroy trailed by a point after the first quarter, but outscored Wellpinit 17-2 in the second quarter.
Wellpinit struggled offensively, making 14 of 49 field goals and 5 of 20 3-pointers. Brodie Ford led the Redskins with 14 points and nine rebounds.

After trailing for most of the game, the Red Devils took control with a big fourth-quarter rally and beat the Hawks in a first-round game.
Neah Bay trailed by 10 points after three quarters, but outscored Tulalip Heritage 27-9 in the fourth.
Neah Bay’s Ryan Moss made 10 of 16 shots from the floor, including 5 of 9 3-pointers, and scored a game-high 25 points. Abraham Venske added 15 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Red Devils.
Tulalip Heritage’s Ayrik Miranda scored 16 points and Bradley Fryberg dished out 11 assists.
Neah Bay plays Pomeroy in the semifinals today at 3:45 p.m. Tulalip Heritage plays Wellpinit at 9 a.m. in a loser-out game.

Dalton Patchen scored 35 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Wildcats surged ahead for good in the fourth quarter and beat the Lions in an opening-round game.
Patchen made 12 of 21 shots from the floor and 11 of 13 free-throw attempts.
Colton led by two at the end of the third quarter and outscored Cedar Park Christian 24-7 in the fourth to put the game away.
Jake Straughan hit three 3-pointers and tallied 26 points, five rebounds and four assists for Colton.
Cedar Park Christian was led by Eric Matson’s 20 points and seven assists and Ben Reidy’s 19 points and eight rebounds.

Shorewood Christian’s Jordan King led all scorers with 17 points to go along with seven rebounds, and teammate Micah Lorenz added 12 points and six rebounds in the win.
Eric Powell made 4 of 16 shots and led Three Rivers Christian with 12 points in the loss.
