Obituary: Bichler, Sister Tharsilla

BICHLER, Sister Tharsilla January 28, 1932 - February 9, 2014 Sister Tharsilla Bichler, a Franciscan Sister of the Eucharist, died February 9th at the Desert House in Pocatello, Idaho.

Sister has joined her parents, Ray and Mary Bichler; and brother Herman in heaven.

Sister lived in Pocatello since 2005 after spending 24 years in the Holy land where she taught math at the Anglican school in Jerusalem and then tutored at the Holy Child program in Beit Sahur.

Sister taught school in Iowa, Wisconsin, Utah, Idaho and Washington.

She became a founding member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist in 1973 and was missioned to Juneau, Alaska.

Sister was born on January 28, 1932 to Ray and Mary Bichler in Strasburg, North Dakota.

Sister is survived by her siblings Annabelle (Mike) Davis, Gerald (Jeanne) Bichler and Venita (Dennis) Fischer.

She also leaves behind many adoring nieces and nephews.

Sisters pioneer attitude to embrace her mission, her ready laugh at life’s incongruities and her graciousness with people endeared her to many.

The funeral mass was held on February 24, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Church in Pocatello.
