Obituary: Gardner, Larry

GARDNER, Larry (Age 76) Our loving Dad, Larry Gardner, passed away February 28, 2014 with his family by his side.

Larry was born August 21, 1937 in Chewelah, WA; The son of Wesley and Essie Gardner.

He was raised in Creston and graduated from Creston High School in 1955 where he met and fell in love with Joan.

They married on April 18, 1958.

Larry and his Dad built their home in Creston where his family lived for 28 years.

He was employed at the Lincoln Sawmill for 25 years and later moved to Palouse, WA where he was employed as a carpenter and later retired from WSU.

After retirement Larry and Joan became full time RV’ers which was Dad’s dream and spent many winters on the Oregon Coast with the dogs he loved so dearly.

He enjoyed working with wood, making many things which meant the world to him, his family, and his friends.

Dad loved hunting trips with his friends and family.

He was awarded Best of Show for Non-Typical White Tail Deer in 1975 and held the Boon and Crockett Washington State record for many years.

Our dad had a heart of gold and took great pride in making sure each and every one of us felt loved.

He is survived by his beautiful wife Joan of 56 years; daughters Laurie, Tammy, and Kellie; son Kevin; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and sisters Necie and Gerry.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Ervin and Les.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
