Spokane Police searching for bank robber

Spokane Police are looking for a man they say handed over a note demanding money at a Banner Bank branch inside a Safeway grocery store Monday morning. The man fled the store, located at the intersection of North Hamilton Street and East Mission Avenue, shortly after 11 a.m., police said. He is described as a black man in his 30s, weighing about 225 pounds and wearing a gray jacket, jeans and a gray baseball cap. No weapon was shown during the robbery attempt, according to police. A search of the area with a police dog was unsuccessful, according to a news release. Those with information about the incident are asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
