Obituary: Reeder, Carl Eugene

Age 86

REEDER, Carl Eugene “Gene” (Age 86) Passed away on March 1, 2014 in Spokane, WA.

He was born June 29, 1927 in Gem, KS., to Walter A. and Nerna G. Reeder.

Carl was the oldest of nine.

He moved to Spokane with the family in the mid 1930’s.

He married Lois in June of 1943.

He enlisted in with the United States Navy in August of 1944, served on the USS Idaho for most of WWII and was honorably discharged on May 3rd of 1948.

He started working for Kaiser Aluminum in November 1949 and retired as General Foreman in March of 1980.

Carl resided in the Spokane and the Lake Pend Oreille area.

He enjoyed water skiing, boating and snowmobiling with everyone young and old.

He was a leader in the Boy Scout, Blue Bird and campfire organizations.

Carl also participated in the PTA, union organizing and political activities.

Carl dedicated his life to family and community.

Carl and Lois were parents to four children and numerous foster children.

Carl is survived by, Jacqueline (Leroy deceased), Walt (Judy), Kay Evelyn Hansen, Rosa Reeder; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life Lois; parents, Walt and Nerna; son, William (Craig); and daughter, Judith (Judy); brothers and sisters, Laurence and Florence (twins), Robert, Gaylene Wilkerson, Lloyd, Sylvia Williams and Ernest.

A memorial will be held Saturday March 15th at 12;00 noon at Heritage Funeral Home.

A reception will follow at the Steelworkers Union Hall.
