Obituary: Stephens, Betty J.

Age 83

STEPHENS, Betty J. Betty June Stephens was born June 25, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to Thelma and Bill Stallman.

She died Saturday, March 8, 2014 in the Spokane Valley, WA.

The best thing that ever happened to Betty was falling in love with Fred Stephens of Coulee Dam, whom she married on April 17, 1948.

Fred was a very hard worker and provided well for his wife and growing family, which enabled Betty to do what she did best, make a beautiful home for her family.

Through their involvement in the Spokane Bethel Church of the Nazarene, Betty not only grew spiritually but was introduced to a wider range of friendships.

In the last decade of her life, these friendships were highly treasured.

Survivors include her brother, Don Stallman (Marion) of the Spokane Valley; her sister, LaDonna Brown (Jim) of Tigard, Oregon; her daughter, Kathleen Luhn (Robert) of Othello, WA; son, Michael Stephens (Connie) of Stockton, CA; daughter, Laurie Bohn (Jeff) of Sierra Madre, CA; daughter, Kerrie Bernecker (Joe) of Anthem, AZ; daughter, Julie Korssjoen (Sherwood) of North Bend, WA; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; and sister, Doris.

The family would like to offer special thanks for long time caregiver, Charlene Dryden and to the good people at Still Waters AFH for their giving care.

Services will be held at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA on Saturday, March 15 at 11:00am.
