Feedback: South Hill doughnut joints

An innocent question revealed a potentially unmet need in Spokane. We asked readers to nominate their favorite doughnut joints on Spokane’s South Hill. And the predominant answer was … there isn’t one, aside from grocery store bakeries. Here’s a sampling of their thoughts:

Janessa Lawson

The South Hill has donut places?

Breana Pirtle

Safeway

Kathy Stoeser Lund

Other than the bakeries inside the grocery stores I can’t think of any “doughnut” shops on the hill.

Nicole Glenn

I don’t know of any on the South Hill. If you want good doughnuts, Donut Parade is the place to go. I love the orange coconut…yum!

Julie Sanborn

The only doughnut places I know of on the hill are the grocery stores

Betsy Wilhelms

There aren’t any “donut” shops on the South Hill that I know of … The only decent pastries are at Chaps …

Julie Sanborn

Chaps and Rockwood Bakery, but I would hardly call those doughnut shops, not by a mile

Virginia Thommes Nowitzki

As far as I know it is just grocery stores. I have lived on the hill my whole life so if I am missing out on a doughnut place up here I would love to know about it.

Tiffany Forland

There’s doughnuts on the hill? Where?!

Jeremy Hanson

Henry’s donuts up by Hastings, people!

Tammy Altieri

Super 1 has a good bakery

Scott Kusel

Is there a true donut shop on the SH?

Jaxon Riley

There are no donuts on the hill, or I would know!

Katy Smith Byrnes

Is there a donut joint on the South Hill? I’ve lived here my whole life and can’t think of one … other than the grocery stores. (which really aren’t much to write home about.)

Julie Green

Where? Where?

Chuck Smith

What doughnut place is there on the South Hill?

Michele Halsted

There isn’t a donut shop on the South Hill

Tracy Fitterer

Mikel Jent

Vicki Christenson

Gary Hanna

A short drive to the Valley will make you smile, YES Mike’s donuts is the best quality fresh donuts.

Ashton Coe

I agree with everyone. I have lived on the South Hill for years and I don’t know of any donuts shops here.

DrDick Streeter

Donut Parade on Hamilton but Trading Company in Cheney has a killer bakery too!

Bill Lynn

Davis Donuts in CDA … not the South Hill but worth the drive!

LeRoy Ashby

Go to Mike’s!

Louise Sullivan

Mike’s in the Valley is great. I work on the South Hill and don’t know of any donut shops.

Cheryl McKee

No donut shops on S. Hill but Rosauer’s are pretty hard to beat.

Rebecca Austin

Scrum diddly umptious doughnuts on Barker in the Valley is good!

Jill Owsley-guilbeault

I agree Rebecca Austin! Great maple bars.

Ruth Johnson

Are you crowd sourcing to see if we need a donut place up here? The answer is YES!

Daniel Brereton

Mike’s Doughnuts is the best in the city. If you haven’t tried it, they are off Sprague.

Gretchen Elizabeth Thyfault

Well Donut Parade isn’t on the South Hill, but it gets my vote. Love it! And I used to live a few blocks away from them. Dangerous.

Misty Jernigan

Donut Parade on Hamilton

Aimee Flinn Nechanicky

Donut Parade!

Connie Sagona Petit

Mike’s on Sprague. Best in the city!

Vince Lemus

Sounds like we need a donut shop on the South Hill. Any suggestions for a location?
