Two men attempt to rob Hotel Lusso, leave empty-handed

From staff reports
Police are looking for two men who attempted to rob the Hotel Lusso shortly after 1 a.m. today in downtown Spokane. The two men walked into the hotel at 808 W. Sprague Ave., wearing masks. One of them demanded money from the clerk and said he had a gun. The clerk activated the alarm, causing the other man to leave. The first man again demanded money, but the clerk refused and asked to see his gun, a news release from the Spokane Police Department said. The would-be robber left the hotel without any money. A security officer followed him but lost sight of him. Spokane police responded but could not find the men. A news release from the Hotel Lusso said one of the men was white and the other was black. It said they headed north on Post Street after the robbery attempt and were seen turning east on Riverside Avenue. About 10 to 15 minutes prior to the robbery attempt, they were seen sitting near Fire Artisan Pizza, just west of the Lusso.
