Rodney Hood hit two free throws with 3.8 seconds left to lift No. 7 Duke (25-7) past Clemson (20-12) 63-62 Friday night in the ACC quarterfinals in Greensboro, N.C.
Duke will play North Carolina State today in a semifinal. The Wolfpack (21-12) knocked off No. 11 Syracuse 66-63 behind T.J. Warren’s 28 points. Syracuse (27-5) had one wild final possession, missing six shots, including four 3’s.
In the other semi, No. 6 Virginia will face Pittsburgh. The Cavaliers (26-6) defeated Florida State (19-13) 64-51. The Panthers (25-8) survived a furious rally to beat No. 15 North Carolina (23-9) 80-75.
Jordan Morgan scored on a layup with 7.9 seconds left, giving No. 8 Michigan a 64-63 victory over Illinois (19-14) in the Big Ten tournament in Indianapolis.
