Dependence threatens U.S.

Wake up, America! We are about to lose our republic, and we must fight to save it. Alexis de Tocqueville in his 19th-century observation of America said, “The American Republic will endure until the Congress discovers that it can bribe the people with the people’s money.” We are there.

History shows that the average age of a democracy is about 200 years, during which it goes through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, to great courage, to liberty, to abundance, to complacency, to apathy, to dependence, back to bondage.

With nearly 50 percent of our people depending upon government for their livelihood and not paying taxes, we are clearly moving into dependence. Too many people are in the wagon and too few are pulling. It may be too late to save our country but we must try. We must fight to save the greatest nation on Earth from self-destruction.

President Obama is embracing the return of European-style fascist government in Ukraine. Planning and support for the recent coup has been developed by Victoria Nuland of the U.S. State Department, and with regime change has come installation of neo-Nazi Svoboda Party leaders in top Ukrainian government positions, including vice prime minister.

Svoboda’s roots lie in World War II Ukrainian collaboration with Hitler’s invading forces, and with other ultranationalist, anti-Semitic groups remembered by many Ukrainians today as far more brutal and murderous than German troops. Western media have almost unanimously refused to name the Svoboda and right-sector gunmen we saw briefly in uncensored videos when the coup in Kiev began two weeks ago.

Svoboda is Ukraine’s fourth-largest party, and last December its leader, Oleh Tyahnybok, shared a rally platform and embrace with visiting Sen. John McCain. In the West, only Britain’s Channel 4 news has reported that fascist-like groups played a leading role in the coup.

Who would have predicted that a Nobel Peace Prize winner would champion the return of neo-Nazi governance in a sovereign country? The Spokesman-Review editors should man-up and tell readers the ugly truth of another U.S. intervention led by gunmen who worship Hitler.
